Ballard Gathers Best in Iowa

The Mike Carr Invitational hosted by Ballard High School in Huxley Iowa promises to be one of the biggest meets for 3A schools during this middle part of the season. This meet features many ranked teams for 3A and brings some strong competition from the other classes as well. The Dutch runners look forward to using this as a gauge to see where we stand and where we are headed.

This race brings a nice mix of 1A through 4A teams. This race brings a high concentration of highly ranked 3A teams. These are the races that the ranking committees appreciate as it gives them a good look at these teams head-to-head. There are 12 ranked boys teams and 14 ranked girls teams across all classes. This will be a GREAT race!

Pella will be staying home to run in one of the midwest’s premier cross country races, the Heartland Classic. The race will be held at Central Cross Country course. It will feature 46 boys teams and 39 girls teams representing 5 states from around the midwest including: Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota. There will be 23 ranked girls teams and 30 ranked boys teams. They boys race will feature 19 boys who have run under 16 minutes this season and 1 who has run under 15. The girls will feature 14 girls who have run under 19:30 with 9 running under 19 and 4 who have run under 18 this season. This race will be FAST! Don’t miss it. Races are on Saturday September 17th.
