HOKA POSTAL NATIONALS COMES TO PELLA

WHAT ARE THE HOKA POSTAL NATIONALS?

The HOKA Postal Nationals are a nationwide high school distance-running competition that gives teams a chance to see how they stack up against programs from across the country.

Instead of racing on different cross country courses with different hills, surfaces and conditions, athletes compete over the same distance on the track — 3200 meters, or two miles. Teams then submit their performances for national comparison.

For Pella, that makes this a unique opportunity to step away from a traditional cross country meet and get a clearer picture of where our athletes stand nationally. It also gives fans a rare chance to watch the Dutch race on the track, under the lights, in the middle of cross country season.

The format is rooted in the classic “postal meet” tradition, when teams would race on their home tracks and mail in results to be ranked against schools from around the country. Today, that tradition continues through HOKA Postal Nationals with modern national results and recognition.
